The 2011 Bernard F. Gaffney Scholarship fund awarded scholarships to Jessica Ahlborn and Julie Hauring both Houghton High School seniors.

The Herman Gundlach Fund granted $3,900 in June 2010. This grant reflects many of Winks special interests, which he supported throughout his life. As in his life, Herman Gundlach continues philanthropy and support of the entire Keweenaw through this endowment. This is his legacy-giving forever.

Who may apply for a grant?
1. The KCF has a commitment to Houghton and Keweenaw counties. Grants must support initiatives in our services areas of Keweenaw and Houghton counties.
2. Grants are made only to non-profit organizations exempt from federal taxation, school districts, municipalities and other governmental units.
3. Grants must be used for charitable purposes.
4. No grants may be used for any political campaign or to support attempts to influence any governmental body other than through making publicly available the results of nonpartisan analysis, study or research.
5. Grants are usually given for specific purposes with the understanding that the Foundation has no obligation or commitment to provide any additional support to the grantee.
6. The Foundation operates without discrimination as to age, race, religion, disability, sex or national origin in the consideration of grant requests, and will award grants only to grant seekers that do not discriminate.
